Yoanita Kartadihardja

Yoanita was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. She plays the violin, piano, guitar, and French horn. Her professional music career started in Shanghai, China, where she obtained a diploma from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2006 and a Bachelor of Art from East China Normal University in 2010. In May 2023, she obtained a Master of Education from the University of British Columbia.

Yoanita worked as an assistant conductor at the New Shanghai Orchestra. After returning to Indonesia, she established her own music studio, Vivo Music Surabaya. She also served as the director, conductor, and music arranger for the youth orchestra community called Orkes Kota Pahlawan for seven years.

She gained extensive experience as a professional violinist and pianist, performing with the Bandung Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Cineclassic Trio. She has traveled to perform in Singapore, Italy, the UK, and Hong Kong. Yoanita also joined several music festivals such as Youth Music Culture Guangzhou and performed with world renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma.

Yoanita has 18 years of experience teaching music in both group and private settings. Her teaching areas include piano, violin, ensemble, orchestra, music theory, and ear training. She has also earned the Licentiate of the Royal School of Music in piano and violin performance.

Currently, she works as Academy Manager at Pacific Region International Summer Association in Powell River, an Orchestra Director at Surrey Christian School, as well as teaching piano, violin, theory at Ava Music Studio.

During break, Yoanita likes to travel and explore nature. She finds that being in nature allows her to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with herself. Nature is her ultimate sanctuary, where she can leave behind the pressures of her professional life and revel in the beauty of the natural world.
