Celebrating an Icon in Music Education: Honoring Mr. Fred Safaei
This month marks the anniversary of an exceptional milestone for Fred, who was recognized as an RCM Teacher of Distinction in 2023. This prestigious award is granted to educators who lead with creativity, innovation, and a passion for music education, inspiring others and creating a brighter future for the musical arts.
Fred Safaei’s career is a testament to dedication and excellence. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Music from Tehran University of Art and over two decades of rigorous training in the Russian piano tradition, he relocated to Canada in 1995. Since then, Fred has dedicated his life to music education on the North Shore, earning the designation of Advanced Specialist in Piano and Theory with The Royal Conservatory of Music.
Fred’s students consistently excel in competitions and exams, with many pursuing advanced degrees in music and some releasing their own work on platforms like iTunes and Spotify. As a respected global performer and educator, Fred has also impacted students and teachers across British Columbia through workshops and mentorship. His leadership as the head of education at Ava Music & Art Centre has transformed the school into a recognized institution for quality music education.
In 2016, Fred’s contributions were celebrated with the Businessperson of the Year award from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Today, we honor his profound influence on the world of music education and his commitment to inspiring future generations. 🎶👏
