Christian Laurian

Christian has had the pleasure of working as a professional pianist since he was a young child, beginning with a performance in the 2,500 seat Jubilee Auditorium at the age of five. Over the years, he has built up an extensive performance portfolio playing at various corporate, charity and public events. He has also held his Grade 10 RCM since the age of fifteen, and is currently working on completing his ARCT. For the past seven years, Christian has taught a wide range of students in both age and musical difficulty. He strongly believes that fostering a love for music is an invaluable endeavour, and he aims to carry that love and passion for music into each of his lessons. Over the years, Christian has performed alongside individuals such as William Joseph (a protégé of David Foster), The Tenors, Oscar Lopez, Lennon Stella, Brett Kissel, and Sarah McLachlan; in venues across Canada, Spain, and the Atlantic Ocean (with the Royal Caribbean cruise-line). He has studied with some outstanding instructors that include: senior RCM examiner Peter Turner; RCM examiner Lauria D. Kerr; Professor Edwin Gnandt at Ambrose University; and Colleen Athparia, professor at Mount Royal University. Christian is also a composer for piano and voice, including the first movement for a concerto entitled “Tears of the Heart” for a full orchestra. He is the author of a book of poetry and a novel, soon to be published. Besides piano, Christian is also a film and television actor with over 20 credits to his name, including the lead role in the family Christmas film “My Dad is Scrooge," and Hallmark’s “When Calls the Heart." He is enrolled at Capilano University, where he is completing dual degrees in Creative Writing/Literature and Psychology. Christian is currently teaching at Ava Music on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please contact the studio for more information.
