Today, Todd Stewart is primarily known for his playing all around the local jazz scene. Among many others, he has performed in the bands of multi-Juno Award-winners Brad Turner, Chris Gestrin, and Caity Gyorgy. He has also played in various rock and pop bands since picking up the drums at 12 years-old. He graduated from Capilano University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance and Composition in 2021.

In his teaching, Todd stresses equally the importance of developing proper hand technique and rhythmic fluency, while tapping into his knowledge of all genres of music to find songs that excite his students. His teaching methodology is highly adaptive and a great fit for students with disabilities, as it’s informed by his own experience of living with ADHD, and also managing a performing career while dealing with atopic dermatitis (chronic eczema) on his hands.
